Rumsfeld taken to task by deploying soldiers
Thanks to Dan for this one.

Soldiers questioned Rumsfeld about the execution of the war.
"Why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmor our vehicles?" Wilson asked. A big cheer arose from the approximately 2,300 soldiers in the cavernous hangar who assembled to see and hear the secretary of defense.

Rumsfeld's talk to the soldiers was a moment we should remember. When the troops start to grumble, the war effort could be in trouble.

History remembers Hannibal crossing the mountains with elephants and the Carthaginian army. However, history also notes that Carthage had to move for peace with Rome because it had no logistical support and the soldiers were fatigued and weary. I'm sure there was a Carthaginian that wanted to stand up at one point and ask, "why don't we have the proper armor and spears and sandals to make this journey a successful one? I am with you Hannibal, but couldn't we have thought through this elephants over the mountain thing?"
